Secretary General

Melanie is a junior in Saybrook College studying History and Russian, originally from Miami, Florida. She has been involved in Model United Nations since high school and currently serves as one of the Head Delegates for the Model United Nations Team at Yale (MUNTY). Melanie has competed and staffed conferences across the national MUN circuit and is committed to fostering accessible, high-quality diplomacy education and leadership development within the MUN community.

Within the Yale International Relations Association, Melanie has held several roles, including Under-Secretary-General of Delegations for Yale Model United Nations Singapore, Chair for YMUN’s bilingual Spanish committee, and judge for the Global Essay Competition. Beyond MUN, she serves as Chief Financial Officer for Yale's Latine Pre-Professional Student Association and does political consulting work in her home state. She also mentors middle/high school students in Florida in public speaking and debate.

In her free time, Melanie enjoys running, baking, and finding new ways to avoid New Haven winters.

Melanie is honored to serve as this year’s Secretary-General and looks forward to welcoming delegates to SECSY this February for a weekend of thoughtful debate, collaboration, and global engagement.
